SITUATION: 5 year old home. 2100 square feet. Original builder installed 2.5 ton carrier unit. was too small by any formula. Blower fan ECM filled as. stimulated repair cost. 700 plus dollars. warranty expired two months ago. I decided to replace the under powered unit with a 4 ton, appropriately sized new unit rather. than repair the old.ESTIMATE: I Gathered a total of six estimates. They ranged in price from $4700 to $22,000. All had 10 year parts warranty with 1 year labor. Two were done over the phone (the lowest ones) and 3 were done by a sales rep visiting the site and AIRFELLOWS sent an actual technician to perform the estimate. The AIRFELLOWS tech Pointed out several required technical upgrades that would be required for the larger unit that other companies failed to list such as a larger return line which runs under your foundation to the outside unit. He also Pointed out structural modifications required to the interior air handling closet in order to meet code. I have no doubt that, either of the other estimates would have charged extra for these items at the time of installation or would have simply ignored the requirements. The AIRFELLOWS estimate came in at just over $8000 which was $200 more than the lowest of the other on site estimates. The AIRFELLOWS Estimate included a premium American Standard system with R454B refrigerant while the others were for 3rd tier brands using R410A refrigerant. The exception being the $22,000 estimate which included the Lennox system with R454B refrigerant.DECISION: After a Sunbiz and BBB research of all companies and their licenses, I decided upon AIRFELLOWS. One of the companies had three recent complaints with a Better Business Bureau. AIRFELLOWS was the only company that accurately represented their ownership.INSTALLATION: 2 technicians showed up on time on the day of the installation. They were polite, courteous and efficient. The job took the entire day. After installation, when the valve was turned on at the. outside unit, it was. discovered that the unit contained no freon from the factory. After testing it was determined that the outside unit was defective. AIRFELLOWS replaced the complete outside unit with another new factory unit. They never suggested repairing the defective unit. One or two unexpected minor issues cropped up but were immediately dealt with by the Techs.CONCLUSION: From estimate to completion, this large investment was painless with absolutely NO SURPRISES! I found AIRFELLOWS to be honest, fair, and experts in their trade. I paid the bid price with no additional charges. The owner and technicians went the extra mile in all aspects of this project. I am 76 years old and hard to please but these guys are great!
